Coffee Cart eBook
From Beans to Dreams: Building Your Coffee Cart Vision
When I embarked on my journey to build my first coffee cart, confusion engulfed me.
What I wish someone had told me: There is More than One Way to Build a Coffee Cart.
The journey began with deciphering health codes—something I’m familiar with after years of teaching coffee truck classes.
If you are anything like me, you’re probably frustrated, a little scared and a whole lot of confused.
I don’t blame you.
- Will it pass the Health Inspection?
- What Coffee Equipment is hardy, gives great performance but at a budget?
- How to do the Plumbing?
- What are the dimensions of the cart?
- How much money do I make per cup?
- How do I price a menu?
- Where do I even find good coffee?
Instead of feeling discouraged, I discovered an opportunity.
Many coffee cart eBooks offer a single set of plans, but does one size fit all?
That’s where we excel. The Ultimate Guide on How to Build a Coffee Cart offers plans but also the reasoning behind them, coupled with real-world experience.
You’re going to get insight into my 9 years of coffee cart experience which will vastly propel your dreams forward.
Are Coffee Carts Profitable?
The very first step in determining the viability of a business is determining it’s profitability.
There’s so much that goes into this equation.
Figuring out how much you will make has a couple of separate variables you need to breakdown:
1. The Profit from Each Cup.
Look up each and every ingredient in the cup and break it down by serving size. But guess what? We did it for you.
2. The Monthly Expenses.
Again, months and months of research done for you. POS, Insurance, Commissary, Vehicle Maintenance…
3. Start Up Cost
Different codes/health regulations have different start up costs, so we gave this a range.
Cost of Standalone vs. Collapsible Cart

Buying used? We added a few tips there as well…
4. Pricing your Menu

Money Math
Price per Cup – Cost of Goods = Profit Per Cup
Profit per Cup x Cups Sold = Gross Profit per Month
Gross Profit per Month – Monthly expenses = Pre-Tax Profit
Pre-Tax Profit – Tax = Monthly Profit
Start Up Cost/ Monthly Profit = Months it will Take to Recover Your Investment
That is a lot of calculations.
To put in perspective, most CPA’s charge $150 per hour. And this is at least 8 hours of work. Though I doubt they can be as precise as this book given only 8 hours…
But still, that’s over $1200 value!!!
How to Pass Health Inspections
How to Pass Health Inspections Well, the first question I answer is, do you need a health inspection? Because health departments vary county to county and even inspector to inspector, over the years, I’ve learned how to communicate with the health department so that you know exactly what you need to pass your health inspection.
- Do I need a health inspection/permit?
- How do I get a hold of my health inspector?
- What is a Commissary? How do I get one for free?
- What questions do I need to ask my health inspector?
- What permits do I need to operate a coffee cart?
